Free Admission ~ Voluntary offering

Friends of Music is pleased to partner with Los Angeles Brass Alliance (LAB‑A) annual Next Up! concert as a special addition to our 2025–2026 season. Next Up! fosters artistic collaboration between composers and brass musicians, and spotlights emerging composers as they build their musical careers. To date, LAB-A has commissioned nearly 20 new brass ensemble pieces through this initiative.

This year’s Next Up! presents new works by seven Southern California based composers, featuring a new concerto by LA-based trumpeter and composer Dan Rosenboom, a familiar face for Friends of Music audiences through his many appearances in prior seasons.

LAB‑A is among the newest instrumental ensembles on the Southern California music scene, having launched with an ambitious inaugural season in 2023. Activities underway include commissioning works from LA-based composers, collaborative performances with community organizations, holding reading and recording sessions for new works, competitions, and more.

This program is co-sponsored by Friends of Music and LAB‑A.
